Mic icon

Sorry for the really small post. Been really busy with exams!

Anyways, this has been annoying me for a long time. The mic icon in the Play Store’s search bar is the old ICS icon! *shudders*

New “Photos” app icon?

Google + got an update on the 29th of October, and with it came a new Gallery app. The G+ app was scrapped, and the new Photos app took over.

The NEW Photos icon, down in the bottom right..

Frankly, I really don’t like the look of the new icon. It’s so… non-Googly. The old G+ Photos icon was gold.

The OLD G+ Photos icon. Yeah... much better.

Difference in Navigation Drawers in Google Apps?

Google recently started adding a Navigation Drawers in most of it’s apps: This trend has started to catch on with many third-party app makers as well.

But there are some differences in these Navigation Drawers, and I wish Google would sort it out. It’s driving me crazy!

If you notice, even the sizes of the panes are different in each case! Very inconsistent.

The "Google Play Apps" all look similar. But these buttons are very large compared to normal SlidingPanes.

This seems relatively consistent with Keep.

This seems like the ideal size. But that white space is killing me. I can't think of another solution, though...

It looks consistent with the web version (thank god) but it feels too congested on Android.

Gmail confused?

It seems like Gmail is getting confused as to what the action bar “up” action should do.

As you can see, sometimes it shows the “back” button, while sometimes it shows the Hamburger menu. Weird.

Kit Kat will be announced soon, so maybe this will get updated soon.

So, I understand that Google tests out a lot of designs. But when will we finally get some consistency across the Google Apps? I constantly feel like I’m a beta tester.

Here, if you zoom in, you can see the action bar (where it’s refreshing). On Gmail (leftmost) the bar starts off slow and cycles to the right, and it’s blue.

In the second screenshot (Google Drive), the refresh bar is blue, but the sections of the updating bar are the same size, unlike in Gmail.

The Google + app is probably the biggest offender in this case. The update bar is multicolored (which I’m okay with, since they are the G+ colors) but they are also evenly spaced. Not to mention, the bar is at least 1 dip higher than the other two bars.

It feels like the developers of these different Google apps don’t communicate with each other.
